My first self-made zentangle as a non-artist!
Article
I have decided. Every day I am looking for new beautiful coloring pages. There are a lot of them on the internet, some of them free some not, some good quality some bad, some too complex some too easy. So many people are drawing them, why not me? Why I can’t try?
And I’ve put down the plan. While I am no artist (not even close :)) and I can’t draw beautiful things like animals, nature or people, I started with the selected shape and tried to draw zentangle patterns inside. There are a lot of illustrations, clip arts and vector images on the internet, which are in the public domain - thus free for use. I found a special tree that took my attention in a second. My husband says it’s a mushroom :) So let’s say it’s a mushroom tree.
This is the image I wanted to start with.
I saved it on my computer, opened it with my dear open-source vector graphics editor Inkscape, draw black lines, deleted all the other colors and made the silhouette.
I printed out the silhouette (maybe I’ll write about the attempt when I wanted to draw patterns directly in the Inkscape program some other time), took a normal pencil and just started to draw. Lines, circles, spirals, triangles, flowers, ... and I draw, turning the paper upside down and draw further, admired and draw again. To my huge surprise, the zentangle I created came out quite lovely! I couldn’t believe, me as a total non-artist, can create such a beautiful coloring page.
And, here it is!
I love it so much! If you like it too, you can have it! I’m giving it away for coloring under the public domain license, so you can download it for free and do whatever you want with it. However, I would be super excited if you tag me with @coloringartninja or #coloringartninja when you color and publish it on Facebook or Instagram :)
Happy coloring!
